What is Fascia?
Fascia Is The Connective Tissue That Basically Holds Our Bodies Together Providing Support For Our Body Form/Shape And Ability To Move As It Is Interwoven Around Our Joints, Ligaments, Muscles, Skin, Blood Vessels, Nerves And Bones. You Could Think Of Fascia As “Packing Material” That Is Between All Of Our Tissues And Organs! Fascia Is Impacted By Overuse/Overtraining And By The Lack Of Use/Training, As Well As Stress - Both Good And Bad. If We Have Adhesions (Think Scar Tissue Or Glueing The “Packing Material” Together) It Can Greatly Limit How Our Body Moves And Restrict Elasticity And Flexibility. What should I wear? Will I be exposed?
For Fascial Stretch Therapy You Will Be Clothed. Please Wear Modest, Comfortable And Loose Fitting Clothing That Allows You To Move Freely. Women - Wear Sports Bra And Sport Shorts: Men - Wear Tank/Tee And Sport Shorts As Well. ALL: Avoid Tights. Tights Can Make It Tricky To Have A Good Grip For Stretch Work. If You Get Cold, Wear Layers That Will Allow For Your Comfort. If You Have Long Hair, Please Bring A Clip Or Band To Help Keep Hair Out Of The Way. Please Remove Earrings, Necklaces And Jewelry. Should We Decide That You Need More “Hands On” With Something Like Massage Or Specific Bodywork, Taping, Or IASTM - We Will Only Expose The Body Part Needing Attention And It Will Be Discussed And Approved By You Prior To Doing So. For Full BOdy Massage, Most Clients are Nude With Proper Draping To Ensure Your Comfort, Modesty and Privacy. I Will Work With However You Are Most Comfortable Should You Prefer Wearing Under Garments. Proper Draping Will ALWAYS be Implemented. No Exceptions.
What should I expect for the first session?
Our Initial Session Will Include A General Questionnaire (Please Fill Out And Submit Online Prior To Coming To Save Time Under "Client Intake Form" To Save Time). Upon Arrival, Your Stretch Therapist Will Review Your 1st Time Client Intake Form With You And Will Talk To You About Your Mobility, If You Have Any Injuries Or If You Are Experiencing Any Pain And What You Would Like To Focus On During Your Stretch. This Is A Time For You To Ask Questions And For Us To Get Familiar With Each Other. The Idea Is To Create A Space For You To Relax, Quiet And Comfortable.
What should I expect after my stretch session?
Some Feel Immediate Relaxation And Some Report Feeling Energized, Lighter, More Open, Taller, etc., However, Everyone Is Different And Responses Vary. After Giving Your Body And Fascia A Chance To Release Tension, You May Have General Soreness The Next 24 - 48 Hours Like You Had A Good Workout. This Is Normal And No Cause For Alarm. Some Report Increased Feeling Of Body Awareness, Mobility, Less Pain And Increased Energy And Can Last For Several Days.
